Mission Statement To
provide our youth with the drive and discipline evident in the sport of golf. Our priority is to teach the honesty and integrity,
while emphasizing courtesy and sportsmanship, which are all
ingrained in the spirit of the game. Our goal is to promote responsibility, respect, and confidence while facilitating better
judgment, so that some day they will practice these principals in their every day lives. Through our perseverance we will
guide our children today toward becoming better adults tomorrow.
Vision Statement To help inspire
and guide our youth to focus on life values, so that they can connect, serve and grow with others, through the game of Golf.
And to show the fundamentals of life challenges to prepare them for the future. Core
Values
TRUTH -Teamwork=
people working together to accomplish a common goal. -Responsibility=reliability and trustworthiness. -Understanding=the gift of understanding helps us in making
good choices. -Tolerance= attitudes and practices of the majority that prohibit discrimination against the minority. -Honesty= to adhere to the facts; being sincere. Definition
of Amateur: one who engages in a pursuit, study, science, or sport as a pastime rather than as a professional,
without formal training or pay. We focus on amateur youth sports services, namely, organizing,
providing and managing youth sports activities. We encourage amateur sports and physical education by organizing, promoting,
sponsoring, sanctioning, conducting, administering, regulating and governing amateur athletic programs and activities. As
we grow we will establish and maintain a uniform standard of amateur standing for athletics. We will also institute, regulate
and award amateur athletic championships. We hope to maintain records and certify record performances of amateur athletes. The
Junior Golf Amateur Program consists of classroom and hands-on instruction geared towards students ages 3 thru 18. It
is made available to youngsters no matter what their socio-economic background and without regard to gender, race, national
origin, or religious affiliation. Program participants are recruited from NEWPORT ISLES COMMUNITY and its surrounding areas.
It is anticipated that the program will eventually expand to include all of near by communities. It is a non-profit 501 (C)
3 tax-exempt organization with its funds generated from fund-raisers and contributions that are given by corporations and
government grants. The registration fee may be charged or waived, depending on hardship or availability. Classroom size is 25 students per class, with future sessions to be determined as we grow. The classroom instruction
consists of one hour on golf etiquette and the rules of golf. In the classroom, the students will also learn how the game
of golf can produce positive life skills. The hands-on portion covers grip, stance, address, swing plane, teeing, putting,
chipping, short and long irons, sand play, and driving. This instruction is expected to take about six to eight weeks. After
the conclusion of the instruction, the graduates will play six holes of supervised golf. Our
Philosophy: In the United States,
children are encouraged to enroll in sports activities. Studies show that these activities are positively associated with
reduced delinquent behavior and increased academic and social performance. Research using parents' reports in interviews and
surveys shows that parents view extracurricular sports activities as an arena for socializing their children to important
values and skills that go beyond the benefits of participation in athletic activities. Through analysis of parent–child
interaction using video data of naturalistic family interaction during formal participation in organized sports (e.g. Little
League), informal participation (e.g. backyard pick-up games), and passive participation in sports (e.g. watching televised
athletic events), this article reveals that parents play an active role in this socialization process. This article underscores
the important function that sports have in family daily life as a socializing tool for culturally cherished skills and values.
We understand your child is an individual and comes to us with unique experiences and interests in learning the game of Golf. Our goal is to truly know your child well and use this knowledge to guide,
support and motivate him or her. We believe that good teaching requires continuous professional development, personal reflection
and collaboration. We value parent involvement at every level and encourage you to partner with us to give your child the
most powerful and joyous learning experience possible in the game of Golf. Behavior Expectations: We have high expectations for the Juinors in the program. We expect Juniors to
contribute in a positive manner to our program. The following is a list of rules for JrGAP. 1.
Show respect 2.
Make good decisions 3. Show good Sportsmanship About Us:
We at the Junior GAP want to let the public know that
we are a program not a League, they generally refer to a league as competitions involving team sports, not individual sports.
A program is like a computer terms means an organized list if instructions that when executed causes the computer to behave
in a predetermined manner. A program is like a recipe. It contains a list of ingredients (called variables) and a list of
directions (called statements) that tells the computer what to do with the variables. The variables can represent numeric
data, text, or graphical images. Without programs, computers are useless. The same way we at the Junior GAP use this meta
"fore" without any program the organization is useless.
We have teamed up with the Children's Service Council to implement a program called KIDS at HOPE to better
our ingredients and move in a different direction so we can focus on our vision statement.
The purpose of the program is to introduce beginners (primarily
youth) to the fun and challenge of the game while, encouraging golf’s positive life values into all segments of their
lives. Working on becoming a community orientated golf program. We meet every two weeks and work on individual golf advancement
in between those weeks.
Certified golf instructors and JrGAP staff and volunteers provide all instruction. The hands-on portion is currently
conducted at a field in a designated area. The students also receive a certificate showing their completion of the safety
commands of the program. CHILDREN
AND FITNESS The
American Fitness Professionals & Associates (AFPA) has a Children's Fitness Specialist Certification(R) that will
show the Juniors how to get fit and gain self confidence too. It's about giving kids the tools, skills and experience so they
can lead a physically active life the rest of their lives. It provides a multidisciplinary approach to teaching health-related
fitness at the elementary school level. This comprehensive Certified Children's Fitness Specialist program helps practitioners
build successful programs that will meet the challenging health demands of the 21st century. Communities coming
together
Strong communities begin with active neighborhoods. Bonding together to work toward improving their immediate surroundings,
neighbors can make a positive impact in a child's life. Realizing the importance of positive nurturing environments, the JrGAP
wants to work hand in hand with the Children's Services Council of St. Lucie County which provides funds for neighborhood
projects and encourages neighbors to work together to plan and provide activities for children and families. The Children's
Services Council of St. Lucie County may commit up to $5,000 toward neighborhood projects initiated by homeowner associations,
resident associations, youth groups and other qualifying groups including faith groups not requiring worship or religious
instructional activities as a condition of participation. Neighborhood projects are required to match their requested
amount with volunteer hours.
To improve the game of golf we focus on a Junior Golf Program that will teach the game of golf early in life. We organize
junior golf in and around our neighborhood. We want to encourage our children to sport of golf. So they can socialize
with other like them we have them participate in a youth golf program. We are non-profit organization we conduct clinics,
give golf lessons, take them to golf tournament, introduce the sports of golf to golfers, conduct private golf training, take
them to golf courses, they learn how to swing a club, teach character, education them on life skills, work on golf development,
